Gym reopening!

public.jpeg

It’s finally time to start the reopening process! Woot woot! In order to make this transition smooth and continue to keep everyone safe, we’re going to start with outdoor workouts only. On Monday, Wednesday and Friday of next week, we’ll have outdoor workouts at 5:30am and 4:15pm. Classes will be held at the gym and the door will be open for members to go in and out, grab equipment and bring it out to the sidewalk, etc, but we will stay outside as much as possible. This will prevent us from having to limit class sizes and enable to us to maintain our space. The following week (starting May 25), we will add 8:30am classes to that outdoor class schedule on those days.

The Tuesday and Thursday kettlebell workouts will continue to be home workouts for now, so you don’t need to return those kettlebells yet! But please do return all other equipment you have borrowed during the outdoor class times, or arrange another time with Shannon to return them. We’ll continue doing FaceTime calls for the kettlebell classes and all workouts will continue to be posted on the website for those of you who still choose to do them from home.

I’m eager to see everyone again! If you need directions to the gym, let me know 😜

Gym closed for now…

public.jpeg

Due to announcements today, it’s unfortunately time for Octane to close it’s doors until April 13. But just because we can’t meet at the gym doesn’t mean we can’t keep our momentum going! We’re committed to helping our members stick with the program and continue to feel like a part of this tight-knit community. So we aren’t done for now, we just have to change our approach!

Tomorrow, the gym will be open from 9-11am and from 4-5pm for members to come check out a kettlebell. We’ll repeat this on other days, too, as needed. We will have a check out sheet and ask that each member limit their check outs to a single bell for now. If you have any personal equipment at the gym, come get it!

We will begin posting workouts in a members only area on our website and will incorporate some Myzone challenges to keep some friendly competition going. I strongly encourage everyone to comment, take workout selfies, trash talk, whatever you can to maintain that connection that makes our classes so special! You’ll be receiving an email with instructions for accessing the members area within the next day.

Kettlebell loaners are only available to paying members with a form of payment on file. If you are a paying member but not currently paying through auto draft, all you need to do is enter any form of payment (checking account or credit/ debit card) in your membership profile. There is no fee for checking out a kettlebell, but if the item is never returned, you will be charged for a replacement.

I’m really proud of our awesome community and I know we can make this work together!

Octane and the virus crisis 🦠

Staying home is okay… being lazy is not!

Staying home is okay… being lazy is not!

Hey Octane friends!

In light of the virus outbreak, we’re asking you all to help us do our part in helping to slow the spread of the Covid virus in our community. While most of our gym members are healthy and strong all of us do come in contact with others who are at higher risk, so it’s important that we do our best to prevent exposing ourselves and, in turn, others.

Obviously, the only way to ensure you don’t come in contact with the virus is to stay home. If you choose to take this approach, we’ll fully support you. We won’t support using this outbreak as an excuse to sit at home, be lazy, and do nothing, though! We’ll be happy to send you the workouts to do at home, with equipment-free modifications if needed, so just ask!

If you do continue coming to classes, please wash your hands when you arrive, spray and wipe any equipment you use once you’re done, and wash your hands again before you leave. Our coaches will be cleaning all surfaces after every class (door knobs, light switches, faucets, remote controls, etc), as well.

As you know, hand sanitizer, Clorox wipes, Lysol, paper towels and toilet paper are impossible to find in stores or even online right now. If you were able to hoard any of these items and have some you can spare for the gym, we’d be happy to purchase them from you so our members can use them!

If you have any other concerns or suggestions for how we can continue helping you stay strong during this crazy time, please let us know! Your coaches care and we’re here to help 🤗

New Shirt Orders

It’s time for a new round of Octane shirts! This time we’ll be ordering a women’s muscle tank and a unisex tee, both in teal. Both shirts are $23 each and an order form will be at the gym. Write your order on the form or message Shannon with your order! You have through Wednesday, March 11 to place your order, and payments are due no later than Monday, March 16.

Sweat Bet Winner

Friday, February 29 marked the end of the last sweat bet, and Cassie Raley is our winner! She made it to over 25 classes and submitted her food log each week, and in return, she walked away with 75 bucks. Woot woot!

New Program

Last week, we finished 8 weeks of the Basecamp training program, and this week we are kicking off 8 weeks of the Aerobic Bodybuilder program. Monday, March 2 is assessment day, but if you miss that workout, you can make it up any other day within the week. In this program, we’ll be incorporating more running and more opportunities to build endurance… but you’ll still see some of the same types of strength work that we did during Basecamp, too. You aren’t done with those slow negatives, yet! In order to maintain the strength and muscle mass you worked so hard for since the beginning of January, it’s important to stick with the muscle building work along with those endurance workouts.

You still won’t see workouts posted, but plan on being inside on Tuesday and Thursday, and be prepared to do more endurance based work on Monday, Wednesday and Friday (that’s code for wear your running shoes). If you wind up needing your running shoes on a Tuesday or Thursday, I’ll be sure to post on our Facebook and Instagram pages, so be sure to subscribe to our feeds there so you’ll be notified if a post goes up!
